As soon as I saw the flowers I knew I wanted a picture there. Not of me though, but of my 2 sweeties…. which reminds me I’m going to have to come up with a new nickname for you as Mummy is sweetie. I’m thinking Sweat-pea… Little One… Flower… Peach? Anyway, plenty of time for that, back to the picture!
You’d expect a summer holiday in Spain to contain a lot of sun, however we were welcomed to Calella by rain and a thunderstorm 🙁 Not the best start to the holiday, especially since the rain made it so humid, you were so sticky, making you very uncomfortable and slightly irritable 🙁 I made a small video to highlight the weather we were greeted with:
In the morning I discovered that you’ve learnt to recognize the packet of crisps we’ve been giving you lately, watching your face light up is a sight to behold, so cute:
Today was a relaxing day, walking around Calella and doing a grocery run… got to make sure we have enough diapers and baby food right? In the evening we decided to go out for a meal, a chance to dress our sweetie up! Skirt & panties to match 😀
To say the city has a few tourist shops is an understatement, there’s one every few meters, all selling the same stuff. If you ever want your hair braided this would also be the place to come, they’re on every street corner. We stopped off in one and Mummy bought you a present, unlike Bunny this one has no arms that can be pulled off 😀
We had enjoyable evening together, however I can’t say the same about the food though 😀 Mummy decided to try the Seafood Paella… something she later regretted after a few bites, Lol. I decided to go for the ribs but they turned about rather plain, luckily I had some chips to go along with them… even though you pinched a few 😀
Tomorrow we’re going to see if we can go in the pool, weather permitting of course. We also saw a cute train driving around the city which we’d like to go on together, I’m sure you’ll love it!
Daddy
P.S I love to take pictures together so here are a couple from the morning.. plus I like to play around with my phone settings 😀
So the day started off as normal, you waking up incredibly early and forcing me out of bed to make your bottle. Mummy was up late the night before preparing for our trip so she deserved a few extra hours in bed. The shower the night before gave you ‘bed hair’:
Bunny was back in action after his unfortunate separation with his right arm… I’m not pointing any fingers however he did tell me he was a little nervous to travel with you again… his concerns were justified it seems… I can hear the stitches popping from here!
As per usual on our way to the airport we had some fun in the tunnel 😀
Don’t worry, Mummy & Daddy comforted you afterwards, there was no crying!
During our time at the airport there were no real surprises however boarding time was quickly approaching and you were not willing to sleep. 30 minutes or so before departure we finally got you to doze off for 20 minutes… we then realized to get you on the plane we need to wake you up… Rule 1. Never wake a sleeping baby.
Unfortunately you didn’t get your own seat, Mummy provided the cushioning this time after she was successful in getting you to sleep. We definitely miss the days of when you sleep the whole flight 😀 After a bit of crying you sleep like… well… a baby:
Travelling always takes its toll on you but you were trying to stay in good spirits while we got the luggage, picked up the car and organised our route to the apartment.
It was not the quietest of journey’s in the back for Mummy, you wanted to sleep but couldn’t… and if you can’t sleep you want to make sure no one else can 😀 We had to stop to give you a small break along with a supply run for the evening, Mummy and I needed fuel!
Anyway, after a long journey we arrived at the apartment around 8 PM, what a day! With you in bed Mummy and I relaxed on the balcony and watched the sunset into the distance.
As you’ve seen we bought you a toy for your high chair to keep your attention from the distractions around you. It works up until a point so I was thinking, how many toys would it take to keep you quiet…. maybe I went overboard? 😀
It didn’t take you long to start knocking them on the floor to make way for your food! Nothing, including toys, gets in your way during feeding time! *Nom nom nom nom nom*
You’re a very active and expressive baby and only thing we’ve noticed is your little foot twitch/twist. When focusing, mainly on cartoons, you’ll twist your feet around and around to the beat of the music.
When you’re older we’re definitely going to take you to your lessons of choice. In fact your aunt Sarah enjoyed Ballet when she was young, until the incident with the stage.. 😀 Don’t worry though, Mummy & Daddy will be there to catch you if you fall!
Today you received your first bag… yay! Now you’re thinking… what kind of bag did Mummy get me? Louis Vuitton? Michael Kors? Mango?!?! Yes, you guessed correctly!
As you can see by your nose, you’re still a little sick
And as a bonus I tried to teach you how to fly! I managed to dodge a few drops of drool but you hit me quite a few times! My little drooler!
Tonight we, OK… Mummy had an incident which resulted in you getting a little wet, not Daddy this time! It seems Mummy proved the following formula:
Warm milk in bottle + Shaking = High pressure volatile warm milk
In all honestly you were too concerned about drinking it to even notice… even when it started to run down your face. Let’s hope you don’t develop a fear / distaste of milk like Mummy…. you should ask her about the cow incident when she was young 😀
While playing with Daddy you showed him your new party trick. The one where you rip a piece of paper up many times and magically it fixes itself. However the ending didn’t go as planned… you haven’t perfected that bit just yet 🙂 It’s lucky Daddy didn’t give you a 50 EUR note to try it with! 😀
I know it’s your birthday but I did mention you should learn or experience something new everyday, how about broccoli?
You were very hesitant, wondering if you should eat it or play with it. Normally you try to eat anything we put near your mouth, but not the broccoli it seems 😀 After a few sniffs and licks your face says it all!!!!
In the end, as per usual, you ended up stuffing your face with a biscuit!
Baby steps right?! Don’t worry, we’ll try this again in the future so you’ll become accustomed to the taste. We want you to grow up to be a fit & healthy child!
Here you are adding to your repertoire of skills, painting with your hands. Looks like you had a lot of fun today at creche on your birthday. I’ll have to try and convince Mummy to do some finger painting at home, washable paints of course 😀
The resulting masterpiece is currently hanging on the wall of Happy Kids!
We can’t believe it! It only seems like only yesterday we were bringing you home from the hospital for the first time. It’s unbelievable how much you’ve grown since then. I (Daddy) have been back dating the website so we’ve been watching all the old videos, we can’t believe you were so small!
You’ve achieved so much over the last 8 months, bringing so much love into our hearts, we couldn’t imagine our lives without you. Every day you learn something, see and experience something new. All of these things are slowly shaping you into the toddler, child, teenager and eventual woman you’ll become. This journey won’t be easy but one thing you should always know, Mummy & Daddy will always be there for you:
To pick you up when you fall
To wipe away your tears and comfort you when you’re upset
You’ve probably heard us mention it before that the one thing we’ve struggled with is putting you to bed. You’re the cutest, smartest & happiest baby ever but Mommy and Daddy have to pick straws to see who’ll put you to bed!!…. Ok, it’s not that bad however it does lead to some amusing moments, like the one below.
You could sense that Daddy wanted an early night, however you had other ideas 🙂 Instead of being read a bedtime story, you gave one to us. It sounded very exciting as you were very expressive, probably involving unicorns 🙂 You eventually fell asleep an hour or so after heading to bed… we’ve experienced worse.
Poor Bunny, he seems to have suffered a shoulder injury. I managed to create him a sling to help hold his arm up but I’m afraid he’s going to need surgery 🙁
Ouch Ouch Ouch
As he’s your most trusted travel companion I hope to have him up and ready before our trip to Spain next weekend. He wouldn’t tell me how it happened, probably slipped in the shower or something. I gave him the recommendation to stay away from little children who tend to swing things around by their arms….. oh wait…. now I understand 🙂
Well, in your case Emily this should be ‘Pearly White’ as you only have the one tooth 🙂 Nevertheless, no matter how many teeth you have they need cleaning. Mummy bought you a pretty little toothbrush and lekker toothpaste. Her first reaction when trying it was ‘OMG, I could eat this on bread…’. I have to admit it was tasty 🙂 Makes sense in order to get kids to use it.
Can you hear the enjoyment in your voice? Or maybe it was ‘what are you crazy people doing to me now?’
So you’ve really grown to love the Pufuleti / Wotsit’s we’ve been giving as part of your evening meal, once the food is finished you eagerly wait for one… or two if you’re lucky!
It’s amazing to see how you’ve developed over the last few weeks, going from having to be fed to playing with them and eventually, feeding yourself. It’s extremely fun to watch, especially when you end up eating your fingers instead of them.
As you can see from the video below, you’re making leaps and bounds!
It’s official, it’s hot… too hot! One thing you’ll learn over the next few years is Mummy loves the heat, well beach…. Daddy not so much 🙂 In the run up to our Spanish holiday we thought we’d also try out a pool in the back garden, take advantage of the hot weather, Mummy picked this paddling pool out for you!
No pink Unicorn was available, a fish will do!
We had a lot of fun splashing around in the pool. Luckily Daddy was trying out his new swimming trunks so getting wet was not a problem!
Here’s to more sunny days, specifically our summer holiday in Spain! Y viva España
Mummy bought you some crisps! In English you’d call these Wotsit’s and in Romania Pufuleti. You loved them however you sometimes had difficultly finding your mouth, your hand, eye and mouth coordination needs some work 🙂
We’ll be posting more pictures and videos on your eating habits in the future so you can see you development. I’m personally waiting for the moment I hear a ‘crunch’ when you eat one, putting those teeth (tooth at the moment), to good use. Mummy has been on the receiving end of that little white nub you have currently, god help us when you have a full set of gnashers! Well, one of your favourite songs at the moment is ‘Baby Shark’ 🙂
This evening Mummy went out and left us to some Father Daughter time… can you guess what’s coming next? Expecting chaos and explosions!?!?! Nah, we had a great time, see for yourself.
We played ‘are you looking at me?’
We said ‘hi Mummy’
We played ‘choo choo train’ while eating.. and yes.. I wiped your nose afterwards
Ok I lied a little, the night had a small disaster when I managed to flood the bathroom and soak both of us while preparing your bath. Unlike a normal person I didn’t sit you in your little chair while trying to fill the bath. While holding you I dropped the shower head into the bath face up!!! It started to spray the whole room… and then panic set in.
Instinctively I ran to stop the water but with you in my arms I had no chance! Retreating backwards I saw how much water was spraying into the room, panic’d again, forgot I was holding you and ran back towards the water, spraying both of us again. Having learnt my lesson I put you on the carpet and then stopped the water… you got a little wet 🙁
You found the funny side of it and lay there laughing and making farting noises while I cleaned up. So many lessons learned, so much fun had, the joys of parenthood right?
This evening we took a stroll around Hoofddorp and stopped at a local playground, you and Mummy had a lot of fun trying out all the activities that it had to offer! Obviously you’re a little too young to enjoy it fully but I think you had some fun, especially the slide.
When you’re older we’re going to take you to many theme parks and outside adventure areas.
