We had a pleasant surprise while out doing our last minute shopping in Hoofddop, we ran into Santa Claus! From what I understand he was also out doing his last minute shopping for all the good kids of the world… are you one of those? Let’s wait to see if you get a visit from him this year, I hope he’s fast enough as to not set our alarm off!
Tiggers Like To Bounce
I’m not sure how long I’ve had this toy but it’s been living on top of our closet for the last few years. Grandma & Granddad think your Auntie Sarah bought it me when I was young, so we’re looking at 20 years+. With some new batteries it works as good as new. We were expecting more of a reaction however you were very hesitant at first, maybe we caught you in the wrong mood. It’ll stay downstairs to keep you entertained just as it did when I was ‘young’… I think I was like 18 when I got it 😀 I’ve always been a big kid at heart.
Mummy left the toy cupboard open and the little doggy got in 😀 It also seems like the doggy wanted to lick and slobber all over anyone who dared to get near to her toys!
Don’t Go Breaking My Eggs
After your laughing fit when Mummy was juggling eggs you’ve now learnt and started perfecting your skills. I’m sorry about the pig towards the end, you’re getting used to it though, even playing with it sometimes. It now lives by TV so any time you’re feeling brave… go give it a squeeze! 😀
Hide And Go Seek
This morning we had a closely fought game of Hide ‘n’ Seek in the living room. You obviously have a natural advantage being the size you are 😀 You went to your favorite hiding place, underneath one of the bar stools, I think it’s your second home now 🙂 Mummy has now placed a mat there due to the amount of time you spend on the floor, I’m personally thinking of charging you rent 😀 Lol She can’t wait to buy you a Princess Castle… I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact you might spend hours in there playing.. ?!? As long as you invite us in for a nice cup of ‘tea’ I’m happy!
Emily van Gogh
You’ve been busy at creche making things again, this time you made us a Christmas card. Thanks Sweetie! I know it’s only a footprint but it’s extremely well made 🙂 I think you’re going to be a budding artist when you grow up. When you’re a little older we’ll give you an easel, plastic coat and a set of paints. It’ll be amazing to see what abstract creation you come up with! 😀 You might literally ‘paint the room red’ 😀
We think that’s also your face as Santa 🙂 It’s kind of blocked by your pinky! 😀
A Wet And Windy Sunday
Mummy and I are in the market for a new bed so we took a trip out to IKEA, one of our favorite places to visit on a rainy and windy Sunday. Now you’re getting older it’s not the case that you’ll stay inside the push chair all the way around. You’re extremely curious, wanting to try out new things, touch EVERYTHING! We found a moose to keep you entertained for a few minutes and Mummy even tried you in a rocking chair.
There’s always one thing in there that’ll keep you quiet for a while… cuddly toys! the bigger the better it seems 🙂 So while Mummy and I are busy shopping you’re ‘singing’ to yourself and eating a toy.
Ems The Builder
It’s Sunday morning and I’m looking for an activity that we can do together, something that’ll hold your attention for more than 5 minutes, I’m going to try Lego. I have to admit you might of got a little help from me for these creations, I can however testify to the fact that you destroyed them all! And if you’re wondering, it kept you occupied for all of 10 minutes, until you started to wander off looking for the remote control. I made it clear to you that while we played the TV would remain off! Something you continued to protest over for… well… the whole time 😀
As I mentioned before you were determined to find the remote control to turn on your cartoons. When you found it I got a whole story on why you should have it and why you should watch cartoons 😀
Socks On, Socks Off
Just like Mr Miyagi (‘Wax On… Wax Off’), we’ve decided to use our secret weapon in our continued war with you and your socks! I can honestly say that I believe we’ve won, it’s over! Many socks have been dropped, lost, eaten or worse… but no more! You have to remember that these are for your own good at creche. We don’t want you spending hours crawling around in bare feet before they notice, this way everyone wins.
A Good Egg
It’s like a perfect storm! You’ve had a good day at creche, you still have energy, you’ve enjoyed your evening meal and Mummy does something that just tickles you silly! In this case it involved throwing and trying to catch plastic eggs in their box. You just couldn’t get enough of them, ‘egging’ Mummy on to throw them more and more 😀 She even tried the grapes but you didn’t see the funny side of those… 🙂 In the future we’re going to have to try this again to see if you remember just how much fun you had. It’s a shame you don’t want to eat her omelette though!
Emily Being Emily
The exact moment I take out my camera you stop the crazy thing you’re doing, it’s like you’re saying… “look at me! I’m an angel!” 😀 Our family meal together is always eventful in some manner, this time you went a ‘little’ crazy shouting at us. I continued to film you anyway as it’s always interesting to imagine what’s going on in that little mind of yours, if only you could tell us!
Happy Sinterklaas
He arrived last week but tonight is when you officially get your presents. Come to think of it I believe you’re supposed to get a present each night. This isn’t too far off the truth as you got your new princess car and shopping cart over the last few days. We have a picture below of you and all your gifts, you did very well and we still have Christmas to come!
You love your little dolly the best, it says ‘Mama’ & ‘Papa’, cries and laughs when you squeeze its stomach. You were hugging her, kissing her on the head when we said ‘Kiss Kiss’ to you 🙂 You dropped her a few times on her head but we’ll ignore that 😀 She even has a little hat for you to keep taking off… along with your socks. The Lego wasn’t the biggest hit however I managed to make a few things before you destroyed them, a Giraffe and large tower.
Let The Fun / Chaos Begin
The living room was already a little messy but after starting the Christmas tree Mummy was nearly crying 🙂 You helped a little, however you weren’t as fascinated by the tree as we expected. You loved Mummy’s dog that sings and flaps its ears, so much so that she won’t be taking it to work this year, it’ll stay home to entertain you 🙂
You helped me put the final touch on the tree with the silver spire! There’ll be a lot more pictures to come as our house slowly transforms into ‘Santa’s Grotto’. At this time of year I’m sure the electricity companies are rubbing their hands together… 🙂
Surprises Don’t Last Long Here
This was supposed to be your Christmas present but as soon as Mummy saw it that was never going to be the case. So not only do I need to hide her presents I also need to hide yours! Don’t worry though as you’re still going to have plenty of things to open under the tree, I’ll put padlocks on them to keep you both out!!! 😀 Plus it’ll be Sinterklaas in 2 days so if you’ve been good you might get something.

Crazy Shopper
When we’re in Albert Heijn (supermarket) we always see the small shopping carts for children, there tends to be a mad rush to get them. Unfortunately you’re a little too young to use them, plus they require you to walk 🙂 So… for at home Mummy decided to buy you something to practice with, just so you know what to do when the time comes. It came with a carrot, paprika, eggplant, mushroom, 2 eggs and a box of cereal. The cereal box didn’t last too long… you ate it.. 😀
I’m not sure how but you somewhere ended up inside the shopping cart, this time it wasn’t me:) You can blame Mummy for that one!
Let The Preparations Begin
With less than a month till Christmas we’re starting to prepare to decorate the house. This means shopping for lights, new decorations and possibly a new tree depending on the condition of our existing one. The best place we find to shop for these types of things is the Garden Center, so we took a trip to Intratuin to see what they have! While wandering around I found a big red button, I had to press it 😀 It started a small Christmas story with animated puppets. Shopping in places like this really get you into the Christmas Spirit!!
The last time we were here the Carousel was broken so we gave you an extra go, let’s see if we can get Mummy dizzy!

Memories
When giving you your antibiotics this morning it was much easier to do so with your milk. As a symbolic gesture I used the same feeding tube we used for your breast milk after your were born, bit of a difference right? You used to only drink around 10 ml in the syringe, a huge difference to the 200+ you have in the bottle now.
Sick As A Dog
It was kind of inevitable really as we didn’t expect you to go back to creche the day after arriving home. This meant you’d have to stay home with Daddy for the day. What fun can we have together, especially when you’re a little sick. For a sick child you were cheerful throughout the whole day, only if I was with you however 🙂
We played for hours, making games out of all the boring chores I had to do that day. You’re starting to put 2 and 2 together and get somewhere close to 4 🙂 Joining the dots when watching Mummy and I doing things you’re able to understand and ‘help’ out. Last night we started you on your course of antibiotics so we’re hoping within the next few days you’ll start to feel much better.
Bon Voyage
We woke up this morning knowing it wasn’t going to be an easy day traveling back home, especially with you having a high fever. Most of the morning was spent with you sleeping on my chest before heading out for a early (ish) flight to Amsterdam. The day went perfect, for a sick child you’ve been soooo good over the last couple of days. It must be awful for you but you’ve shown great strength, Christmas is coming soon so there maybe a present or two for you under the tree 😀
